Wood Bangle with Brass Inlay

Description

This large Wood Bangle with Brass Inlay is handmade on the lathe for the basic shape. Then it goes to the studio bench where I drill holes and insert the square brass tubes. Here I spend hours on secondary operations cutting the brass tubes, sanding, painting the wood black and finishing. The inside diameter is 2 1/2 inches and an outside diameter of 3 5/8 inches. This piece is very unique and influenced by Postmodern Art of the 1990’s. If you are looking for a wood bangle the quickest way to determine your size is to measure a round bracelet that you are comfortable wearing.

Jewelry Making

In 2010, I began making wood jewelry with wood pendants and necklaces, Next came bangles and brooches followed by earrings. I love making wood jewelry because there are so many styles and techniques to explore in the design. When I discovered resin this was a game changer. I began casting color pencils and then slicing them up for bracelets, pendants and earring. This led to a line of earrings with acorns and seed pods. These became my signature pieces in jewelry. I then took this process of cast seed pods and acorns to making bowls and vases.
