This is a Bent Wood Bracelet. I have a process where I am able to coil and bend wood in a tight radius without it snapping or breaking. Using this technique I am able to explore many design opportunities in jewelry design, wood sculpture and also Holiday Gifts. I am not sure if I like this Bangle better as jewelry or sculpture. The form is both simple and elegant.
The finished bracelet maintains a high degree of flexibility. It is not fragile and will not break under normal handling conditions. It can be worn every day if that is what you would like to do. This style bangle is for sale in my shop should you be interested. To determine your size, measure the inside diameter of your most comfortable fitting solid round bracelet. This is the best way to determine your size. Otherwise you can make a paperboard sleeve to slide over your hand without flexing and measure the inside diameter. I began making wood jewelry in 2010. Bending wood is a new direction from my initial color pencil jewelry items. I find the creative process fascinating how one idea leads to another. Just by doing something that action often leads to new ideas. Pushing your boundaries is the best method to prevent a creative block.
