This is an oak Bent Wood Bangle. I have a method to coil and bend wood in a tight radius without it snapping. This offers many design opportunities to explore jewelry making, sculptural forms and also Holiday Ornaments. The bangle is tough and flexible at the same time. It would be very difficult to break and will last for years. You can wear it every day without fear of damaging it. The average inside diameter is 2 1/4 inches and the outside diameter is 3 inches. The wood thickness is 1/4 of an inch. Alan Adler, artist signature is on the inside.
The best method to determine your size is to measure the inside diameter of a comfortable solid round bracelet. Another method to measure is to make a paperboard sleeve that slides over your hand. Then measure the inside diameter of the sleeve.
I began making wood jewelry in 2010. The process of bending wood is a new direction from my color pencil items. I find the creative process is so exciting. Jus doing something new generates ideas.

Studio
I design all of the items in my studio in Montvale, NJ USA. My primary tool is the wood lathe. I can turn a wood log that weighs two hundred pounds into a stool or a piece of jewelry that weighs only ounces. After the form is complete on the lathe I take the piece to the workbench. This is where the magic takes place. I may spend more time at the bench than I did at the lathe.
