I love to make Color Pencil Jewelry. It brings back memories of childhood drawing with these magical pencils. My adult journey began with color pencil pendants and necklaces. Then it went to bangles and bracelets. Followed by earrings, cufflinks and brooches. All are available in my shop.
I began to design handmade wood jewelry in 2010. Beginning with wood pendants I added jewelry components like beads, bales, chain, leather. Then I started to cast colored pencils in resin. The first pieces were color pencil bracelets that I turned on a lathe. I discovered that as I would rotate the bangle the shape of the color changes from a dot which is the pencil point to an oval and finally to a color line. This opened design opportunities to experiment with this finding. I started to make paperweights, money clips, earrings and cuff links from colored pencils. Color Pencil Earrings make a fashion statement and always receive attention. They are great conversation pieces. Ask a friend what the colors are made of and most will not be able to offer an answer. When you tell them it is color pencils they will respond “Wow.” Ask a child and they will say colored pencils almost immediately. Picasso said it best, “Every child is an artist.
