Color Pencil Jewelry

I cast a block of pencils slice them up, sand them, fit them into a rectangular jewelry finding and dome them with resin for a lifetime of protection.
These are one of a kind Wood jewelry, rectangular bronze bezel necklaces with color pencil inserts. The necklace features a cross-section of color pencils. The colors are intense and these wood pendants are unique.
The color lines that you see in the photo is a cross section of the color leads along the length of the pencil. A clear resin dome highlights and protects these wood pendants. The size is 2 inches long by 1 inch wide and approximately 1/8 inch thick. They hang on an adjustable leather suede cord. They are great conversation pieces and will go with any outfit.

Studio
I design and produce all items in my studio in Montvale, NJ, USA. My primary machine is the wood lathe and my woodworking journey began because of my interest in using the lathe to make bowls and vases. As my interests evolved and my skill set improved I began to explore other methods to produce wood art. Some ome these items do not require the use of a lathe at all as in these jewelry pieces. It is interesting how paths change and interests in other processes take hold.
