Wood Jewelry
This is a group of Handmade Wood Jewelry Pendants with adjustable leather cords and various metal findings and beads. The necklaces feature a variety of woods with different finishes. The center piece is maple burl with red stain resulting in wonderful colors and textures. The black pendant on the left is black birch plywood with several tones of gray. There is also a silver ring hanging in the center opening. The pendant on the right is offset turning with deep grooves. These represent the first style necklaces when I began to explore wood jewelry. This then led to bracelets, bangles and earrings. I now use a variety of materials that include color pencils, acorns, seed pods and cinnamon sticks
They all include an adjustable leather cord. By pulling on the two ends the length of the necklace adjusts to the best level of comfort. These are a great conversation pieces and will gain attention with any outfit.

These pendants as with all my jewelry is handmade by me in my studio in Montvale, NJ, USA. I usually plan a piece with several paper sketches. This keeps me focused on the objective. I may deviate as the physical item develops, but I find the results to be on target. There is a sailor saying that if you do not know where you are going then it does not matter which port you arrive at. I like to know where I am going.
My primary tool is the wood lathe. This machine allows me to make the form. Once the form is created the piece must go to the workbench for secondary operations. This includes carving, staining, sanding and finishing with a protective coating.
