Wood Jewelry
This is a group of Handmade Wood Jewelry Pendants with adjustable leather cords and various metal findings and beads. By pulling on the two ends of the cords the length of the necklace adjusts to the best level of comfort. The pendants feature a variety of exotic woods with different finishes. The center piece is Ebony with a semi precious bead which results in wonderful contrasting colors. The red pendant on the left is Manzanita Burl which is one of my favorite woods. The pendant on the right is a fabulous example of maple burl. These represent the style necklaces when I began to make wood jewelry. This then led to bracelets, bangles and then earrings. I now use a variety of materials that include resin, color pencils, acorns, seed pods and cinnamon sticks.

Studio
These pendants as with all my jewelry is handmade by me in my studio in Montvale, NJ USA. My primary machine is the American made Robust wood lathe. This tool with three horse power allows me to turn a two hundred pound log into a twenty pound seating stool. It is also accurate to make small wooden jewelry items that weigh less than one pound. The lathe spins wood at a high speed as the maker introduces a handheld cutting tool to the wood. Layers of wood fly into the air as they are peeled away.
