In 2008 I began my wood turning journey. Initially I was making bowls, but quickly became interested in making smaller pieces like this Colored Pencil Necklace. Jewelry is more challenging and requires many more skill sets. First working with exotic woods like ebony and various burls I began experimenting with color pencils.
I enjoy making Color Pencil Jewelry because it brings back childhood memories learning to draw. My wood journey began with color pencil pendants and necklaces and then bangles and bracelets. Shortly after I am designing earrings, cufflinks and brooches. All of these are available in my shop.
Color Pencil Jewelry always make a fashion statement and receives attention. They are wonderful conversation pieces. Ask a friend what the colors are made of and many are unable to offer an answer. When you say that they are color pencils they will respond “Wow.” Ask a child and they quickly respond “colored pencils.” Think about what Picasso said. “Every child is an artist. The problem is staying an artist when you grow up.” If you like this Colored Pencil Necklace please take a look at my other color pencil items including Triangle Shape Colored Pencil Earrings

Studio
These earrings as with all my Wooden Jewelry are handmade in my studio in Montvale, NJ USA. The wood lathe is my primary tool. Now I find that I spend much more time at the studio bench designing and developing concepts and products. In the past while on vacation my wife would want to go into the bead store in the cute town we were visiting. I hated every moment of that experience. Now it is me leading the way into the store.
