I do not draw as well as I would like, but I do make crazy things from color pencils. The three dimensional color dots and lines fascinate me. These Color Pencil Bracelets and Rings are examples of my wood jewelry. Color Pencils exist to draw art on paper. My goal is to make the pencil the art.
These Color Pencil Wood Bracelets and Rings are handmade on a lathe. I began making handmade jewelry in 2010. I started with wood pendants and later colored pencils cast in resin. By rotating the block of colors pencils the round dots change to ovals and then the ovals to straight lines. These evolving shapes offer opportunities to create unique pendants, bangles and an assortment of other things.

These color pencil items receive attention during holiday shows. Shoppers are curious about the colorful items. When I ask an adult what the material is, I get crazy answers. When I tell them, ” Color Pencils” the response is “Wow.” Ask a child and they answer “Color Pencils.” It seems children are more open and creative than adults.
I design all items in my studio in Montvale, New Jersey, USA. Each piece is handmade and unique. I am constantly searching for new materials to use in my art to make appealing items. This journey began with learning to use a wood lathe. It has since taken me down paths I never thought. I have learned to make my own tools, use an airbrush, inlay stone in wood, how to use crazy glue without sticking my fingers together and many other things.
