Allan Adler Bracelet Vase
Allan Adler the Jewelry Maker This Allan Adler Bracelet Vase combines the jeweler’s bracelet with my wood vase. Allan Adler from Hollywood was known as the “Jeweler to the Stars” in the 1930’s. Whenever I come across his bracelets I try to purchase them. Then I integrate them into my Woodturning Art. I turn a wood vase with a recess to accept the silver bracelet as a feature to the vase. Here is a little history on this artist. This Bracelet Vase features a silver rim arou

1850 Milk Painted Bowl
Repurposing Vintage Wood 1850 Milk Painted Bowl is from a recycled vintage wood beam. The beam was salvaged from a beam in a renovation of New York City building. This set of four bowls are from reclaiming wood from an 1850 Brooklyn Brownstone. Many nineteenth century buildings in New York undergo renovation each year. Landmark laws protect the outside of the building and must remain with the historical front facing. When the contractors do the interior work they remove v

Vintage Oil Can Boxes
Vintage Oil Can Boxes feature those cute vintage oil cans you may have seen in your grandfather’s shop. No longer very useful I convert them into Steampunk jewelry boxes. I design these Vintage Oil Can Boxes because I have a collection of these antique thumb oil cans and wanted to do something to bring them back for a useful purpose. The idea of a jewelry box with the oil can being the lid came to mind. I turn a wood base that the oil can will friction fit into. The chal

Vintage Oil Can Jewelry Box
The design concept for this Vintage Oil Can Jewelry Box series came about from my collection of very cool steampunk antique oil cans. I wanted an interesting way to display them and at the same time bring them back for a useful purpose. I got the idea to use the oil can as a finial. Many turners make ornate wood finials and I saw the spigot of the oil can as that finial. The goal was to make a variety of different geometric shape bases in different colors to compliment th

Allan Adler Bracelet Vases
These Allan Adler Bracelet Vases are a collaboration of sorts with a famous silversmith from Los Angeles, California. Allan Adler was known as the jeweler to the Stars. We are not relatives, but the first time I saw one of his bracelets I knew that we had to collaborate. I could not get his permission as he already passed. These Modernist Sterling Silver bracelets are from the 1930’s to the 1950’s. They are simple and elegant flat sided circles with hard edges. I turn m

Banksia Seed Box
Handmade Banksia Seed Box is made from a Banksia Seed which is unique to Australia. The flower goes to seed and forms an enormous Seed Pod. It is the size of a large cucumber and similar in shape to a giant American pine cone. The oval shapes are where the seeds fall out of the Pod. These Seed Pods are great for making items because they are extremely unique and exhibit wonderful earth tone colors. This box features exotic woods for the ascent pieces and the lid. The over

Duncan Vessel and Lid
Collaboration Duncan Vessel and Lid features an European antique porcelain lid from the 1800’s that is missing its base. It is a gift to my friend and mentor, Bob Duncan, who is a Deacon in his church. Notice the small crosses in the lid design. The overall size is 3 inch diameter by 3 high. I bought 40 antique hand painted European and Asian porcelain lids made in the 1700 and 1800′s that were missing their bases. The new replacement base is Maple. I hope you enjoy this

Antique Knock Off Bowl
Description Antique Knock Off Bowl is an experiment with color and texture. I threw everything at this piece using pyrography for texture, modeling paste to smooth out the depth of the burns, color dye stains and finally gold paint. I enjoy making wood no longer appear to be wood. The size is 3 inch diameter by 2.5 inches tall. The style of the piece is Hollow Form Turning. Let’s step back in time when man started to work with metal. With some texturing and gold paint I can
