Housewarming Wood Bowl

Carlye and Frank Housewarming Wood Bowl. This is a stunning example of what can be done with Ambrosia Maple.   Sometimes the wood is so gorgeous it just has to stay in the family.

Ambrosia wood is from the Maple species. This bowl is handmade on a lathe. The tree is attacked by Ambrosia Beetles that enter the tree trunk and create these wonderful markings. Each log has different markings. As they eat through the tree fibers they leave behind brown streaks.  Often there are tiny holes where the beetles enter and exit the wood.  Eventually the tree dies.

Picture a stunning Ambrosia wood bowl filled with fruits as the centerpiece on your table. This bowl is a family gift. However, if you would like a bowl like this let me know. I do accept commissions or may have something not yet posted.  Take a look in my store under bowls for available items.

If you like this Ambrosia Housewarming Wood Bowl look at my Etsy store where I offer a large selection of wood bowls and platters.

All of my wooden bowls are food safe and signed on the bottom.

Studio

All items on my website are handmade by me in my studio in Montvale, NJ USA.  My primary tool is the wood lathe where I shape the form.  Then the piece goes to the workbench for secondary operations including carving, sanding and finishing.  When you purchase a product from me I guarantee that you are getting an original piece.

Care for Wood Bowls

  1. Keep out of direct sunlight and minimize exposure to wide swings in humidity levels

  2. Do not wash with water, but if necessary use a damp cloth and dry.

  3. Wax lightly with a quality food safe wax or oil and buff to restore the luster.  I like beeswax, walnut oil or mineral oil.
