Group Artist Show
Colored Pencils Wall Hanging is made for a group show in Michigan. All the invited artists had to make a piece the same size. The size is 6 x 6 x 1 1/2 inches overall with a color pencil portrait that is 3 x 3 x 3/8 inches in a shadow box frame. Notice the pencil points seem to be floating in air. An insert is cast from a block of color pencils. I then cut the block, sand it and coat it with a dome of clear resin. This is a one of a kind piece that exhibits wonderful colors from the points of the pencils. My signature is on the rear of the piece.
This is a great conversation piece as few people will identify the dots as color pencils. Ask an adult what they see and they will not be able to tell you. When you say ” Colored Pencils” they will respond “Wow.” Ask a child and they will say “Colored Pencils.” When do we as adults lose this spontaneity?
Colored Pencils For Jewelry Making
Since I produce many items with colored pencils I thought it would be interesting to look up the history of this art media. The only mention of color pencils is for writing and drawing. Maybe someone will add the use for jewelry making on Wikipedia and so that your piece will become more valuable and I will be able to increase my prices.
