Thistle and Resin Pendant
Thistle and Resin Pendant features Thistle Weed Seed Flower that is cast in resin.  Mother nature is a furile source of inspiration for my art.  I have made many jewelry items from organic items like acorns, pie cones, cinnamon sticks and anise spice stars.  The transformation from a common object to one that is no longer identifiable is pretty amazing.  Another source of inspiration is the sea and I have made pieces featuring starfish and sea urchins.
The process to make this pendant is to cast a Thistle Seed Pod into a block of blue epoxy resin. The block is then placed on a wood lathe and I turn a cylinder that will fit the  1 1/2 inch diameter Bronze metal finding.  I add a matching 24-inch long chain with a lobster claw clasp.  When the two pieces are together I dome the pendant with clear  resin  to enhance the color and provides exceptional protection.  Never be concerned that another woman will be wearing the same jewelry at an important event.  Won’t happen with this one of a kind pendant. I am certain you will not see it anywhere else.
Have some fun and ask your friends to guess what is in the Pendant. I have yet to have someone identify this even as a plant.
