Redneck Bud Vase
Redneck Bud Vase features tons of character and beautiful flowing lines.  This piece is in a group of vases where I modify the lines to evoke different forms and emotions.  Here a bulbous base supports the thin neck. A form like this is often found in nature., especially flowers like poppys and even some trees that form large burls at the base.  The wood is oak.  The colors are airbrushed and then white liming wax is applied to fill the pores in the grain.  the elegance of a well dressed night in the big city.  Picture a Black Tie event with a dark charcoal suit with a hint of silver threads running through the fabric.  It is not often that a Maker finds wood with these gorgeous patterns.   The style is a modified Hollow Form which means the opening at the top is smaller than the diameter of the vase.  I actually hollowed this piece from the bottom and then plugged the opening.  Pretty good...  You can hardly tell. 
 
A glass vial is fit into the neck to keep your flower cutting watered.  The tube is 5 1/2 inches long with a 3/4 inch diameter.  Can be used as a weed pot, a bud vase, flower cutting vase.
 
Dedicated tools and patience are necessary to create a Hollow Form Vase.   This vase will be a beautiful centerpiece for your table or display shelf.  The size is 1 1/4 inches at the top and about a 4 1/2 inch diameter at the widest spot and 7 inches tall.  Signed by the artist, Alan Adler, on the base.

Keep out of direct sunlight
Minimize exposure to wide swings in humidity levels
Do not wash with water, if necessary use only a damp cloth
Wax lightly with a quality food safe wax or oil and buff to restore the luster.  I like beeswax, walnut oil or mineral oil.
