Natural Edge Birch Platter
This is a beautiful birch platter with the natural edge bark around the full circumference. The style is Natural Edge. The definition of Natural Edge is a wood product with the bark left intact or the rough edge that remains if the bark is removed or falls off. An interesting fact is that wood harvested in the winter or fall will more likely maintain the bark. Wood harvested in the spring or summer will often see the bark fall off as the wood dries. This is because the wet fibers under the bark do not have enough time to attach to the sapwood. The size is 16-inch diameter by 1 1/4 inches high. It is unusual to have apiece of wood this large with the bark edge intact and no cracks in the platter.
This will definitely be a conversation piece and will make a unique centerpiece in your home.

Care for the Birch Platter
- Keep out of direct sunlight
- Minimize exposure to wide swings in humidity levels
- Do not wash with water, if necessary use only a damp cloth
- Wax lightly with a quality food save wax or oil and buff to restore the luster. I like beeswax, walnut oil or mineral oil.
