Falling Leaves Vase is an arc shape sculptural form inspired by the Matisse leaves.  They are in many of his paintings and also the scissor cut paper collages of leaves made when he was no longer able to paint.   This piece features turning, carving and painting. This is one of several Matisse pieces. He is one of my favorite painters because his forms are simple and elegant and no one can draw a curve as clean as he did.

Keep out of direct sunlight
Minimize exposure to wide swings in humidity levels
Do not wash with water, if necessary use only a damp cloth
Wax lightly with a quality food safe wax or oil and buff to restore the luster.  I like beeswax, walnut oil or mineral oil.
