Colored Pencil Brooch – Pin
Take a look at this fabulous Colored Pencil Brooch – Pin.  I cast a block of color pencils in clear resin. Then I fabricate the block into smaller sections to create a variety of different jewelry items, including earrings, bracelets, bangles and of course brooches.  In the case of this pin, I take a piece of the block and mount it on a wood lathe.  Revolving at a high speed I introduce tools to make a cylindrical shape.  A small disk section is cut from the cylinder to fit the size of the silver-tone bezel.  A dome of the clear resin provides depth and protection to the final piece.  The size of this pin is 1 3/8 inches in diameter.  Wear it with your favorite sweater,  jacket or coat and have some fun with it.
It will be fun to have your friends guess what the color dots are. Show this pin to an adult and they will not be able to tell you what the disk is made of.  When you finally tell them they will respond with a “Wow.”  Ask a child and they will immediately tell you they are colored pencils.  When do we lose spontaneity as adults?
