Chinese Bi – Wood Art

This is a Chinese Bi – Wood Art.  This Chinese Bi is seen in major museum collections featuring stone or Jade. They appear in 2000-5000 BC as a ritual burial function for Royalty. There is lots of conflicting information on their purpose, but what I like best is that they are symbols for heaven and the sun to ward off evil and allow passage of the spirit.

Picture this beautiful wood sculpture with tons of character on your table. It is not often one finds wood with these gorgeous patterns. The wood species is Maple Burl with very unusual markings. The size is 3 1/2 inch outer diameter mounted on a brass rod with an African Blackwood base.  It stands 8 1/4 inches tall.  This item will bring you comfort and help you relax. My artist’s signature, Alan Adler is on base.

Gift Ideas

It will make a perfect Valentine’s Day gift for a loved one who has everything. How about a Birthday Gift or Anniversary Gift? You know that wood is the 5th Anniversary Wedding Gift.  If you like this item you should check out my other sculptures like Chinese Bi Big Bang Theory Wood Art.

And if you have some time to spare I do have an Etsy store with plenty of goodies.

All Wood Art on my website is handmade by me.  When you purchase from me I guarantee that you are getting an original piece.  I do not sell any third party items.

Care for your Chinese Bi Wood Art

  • Keep out of direct sunlight
  • Minimize exposure to wide swings in humidity levels
  • Do not wash with water and if necessary use only a damp cloth
  • Wax lightly with a quality food safe wax or oil and buff to restore the luster.  I like beeswax, walnut oil or mineral oil.
