Cherry Burl Vase

Burl Wood is that strange bump you sometimes see growing on the trunk of a tree.  Burlwood is highly sought after by wood artists because of the grain and patterns it produces. Working with Burl often leads to surprising results.  Here the piece looks like a stone vase from antiquity. It looks more like stone than wood.
I turned this piece on a wood lathe and finished over several days on the studio bench. The size is 3 1/2 inch diameter by 6 inches high. My artist’s signature, Alan Adler is on base.  This is an excellent display and art piece which will compliment any home decor especially one of a wood art collector.
