Box Elder Platter
This is a wooden platter handmade from Red Box Elder. It features beautiful grain and incredible red flame markings. The red color streaks are made by a Box Elder Beetle that infests a maple tree. His cousin, the Ambrosia Beetle leaves brown streaks in the wood. The little black dots are where these buggers enter and exit the wood. They leave their artwork behind while unfortunately damaging the tree.
Imagine this gorgeous Platter filled with apples and oranges on your kitchen table. This platter is perfect candies or any utilitarian need. Picture it on your dining room table as a great table centerpiece. It is food safe.
The size is 9 1/2 inch diameter x 2 inches high.
Signed by me on base, Alan Adler.

Care for your Platter
- Keep out of direct sunlight and minimize exposure to wide swings in humidity levels
- To clean, do not soak with water, if necessary use only a damp cloth
- To restore the luster wax lightly with a quality food safe wax or oil and buff. I like beeswax, walnut oil or mineral oil.
