Wood and Silver Jewelry Box made from a vintage silverplate napkin ring holder. On a wood lathe I fabricated the permanent base and a removable wood lid. This item is a perfect keepsake box for your valuable rings or earrings and can be kept on your nightstand. It also be a perfect container to hold your ring while preparing dinner. Place the ring into the container and there will be no fear that it will be misplaced or damaged.
I enjoy looking for items that have potential for upcycling into new useful items. I am not sure if anyone still uses napkin rings which were popular in Victorian times until the 1980’s. Many of these napkin ring sitting to cabinets are quite beautiful objects and now can be even better tiny jewelry boxes.
This wood and silver jewelry box will make a wonderful gift for that special friend. You know that wood is a Fifth Wedding Anniversary Gift. Need a Birthday Gift or a Holiday Gift. You will not find anything like this anywhere else. I came up with this idea looking a napkin ring holders at an antique flea market thinking there had to be a way they could be made into useful vessels.
I design and produce all my items in my Montvale, New Jersey, USA studio. My primary tool is the wood lathe. Once the form is complete the items goes to the workbench for refining the product and finishing with a protective coating.
